Making art is about being closer to nature through the work. In many ways being an artist is not a choice, but something more primary to my sense of well being. Working with my hands is the most grounding and peaceful experience that I have. The critical point of a body of work is whether there is something internally that sustains continuance. A sensual design quality and the challenge of integrating several ideas into one picture is what I love most in making new work. I may see something that I want to have in a picture and look for weeks for subjects, colors or shapes that will make the image successful. I love mastering new materials and studying great artists. My work has included chalk pastels, sculpture and printmaking. Although they are each different, I see how I have brought similar qualities to each one.
